ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Class will be cancelled the week of August 26th-30th. Class will officially begin on September 3rd.
- Please get a GMAIL ACCOUNT. Your UH email will not work. If you don't have a gmail email address, click HERE to get one! Once you have a gmail email address, email it to me at jaimie.gusman@gmail.com. I will send a blog "invite" to your gmail account. Accept the invite. Now you will be able to access the blog. I will close the blog to the public on SUNDAY SEPT 1, so please do this ASAP.
HOMEWORK: Because class will be cancelled the first week, please complete the following:
1. Familiarize yourself with the blog and syllabus.
2. Write a blog post: Write a brief essay outlining your personal goals for this course.
Your essay should be about 500 words that address the following questions: (1) What does the word "composition" signify to you?, (2) How does "composition" enter your everyday life?, (3) What are you writing strengths?, (4) What are your writing weaknesses?, and (4) What is your favorite kind of composition and why?
Do your absolute best on this first assignment. It's a great way to set goals for yourself, but also let me know your organizational skills, grammar level, understanding of sentence structure, and maturity of thought.
You will post this essay in the "comments" section of this blog post (click the "___comments" link to leave a comment - it's to the left of the pencil icon). You can copy and paste from Microsoft Word or type directly in the comments box, but know that formatting is limited. If you have any questions, please contact me or your mentor, Lisa, via email.
